Capable, Completely & Clearly

I was lucky enough to come into some high quality leathers recently. Teaching yourself how to fabricate in this medium is incredible. Everything is hand done as my machine is having none of it. The tiny hand set holes that the stitches lace through, the mystery braid handles, all done by hand tools. And I try to get mostly single piece cuts. Next up: Tattooed suede wallets.

Shifting Slightly Sideways

Around the time I drifted away from this journal I had just moved to New York from New Orleans. I have since been here for six years and I now am slightly sorry that I was not a better documentarian of those years. I'm still an artist, still working in theatre, and as always still making questionable choices. When I have a bit more I will fill i some holes from the time I've missed. Until then, Recently: 1.

I was blown back into an artistic way of thinking during/after this film. The focus on concentration, on being present, on eliminating distraction and being true to your work; these things are still resounding in my head.

Costumes (teaser)

Some sketches from the development of the as of yet unannounced possibly not
going to actually happen show. I'd like for it to happen though. Knock on wood.

On a bright note. Since my incredibly depressing second to last post I have
acquired three shows for which I will be coordinating props. Feast or Famine.
I can hardly bear it. I also applied for a position with Bloomingdale's as an
associate visual merchandiser; that is the one we hope goes through.
Still, it is nice to be employed again.

Et maintennant, la froideur...

From the depths of despair I return.
I am so incredibly broke/without resources/jobless
presently it's a little stunning. Seriously stunning
actually. Still, what can I do but keep going on.
Wake up, online job search over tea, resume tweaking
over tea. Edit the portfolios before dinner.
Oatmeal for dinner.

I might be designing a really huge show soon.
But the production company is quite secretive
and really bad at communicating. So we'll see.
I have a partial cast list, but I am not allowed
to tell you who is in it yet. Soon Hopefully.
Hopefully I can get a contract out of them so
I can return to my life.

It's cold here, and kinda hard to live.
But I still happen to like New York.

I've discovered I can be an optimist.
